Mambo-code.org Projects

Mambo-code.org has been established as a free development and distribution environment for the Mambo community to build and manage Open Source software projects based around Mambo. The Mambo code resource is designed to assist collaborative development of open source components, themes, extensions, add-ons, plug-ins, modules and anything related to Mambo.

Project Submission

Create a user account on the Mambo code forge. Once you have confirmed your registration, login and go to "My Stuff" where you will see an option to Register Project.

Project Purpose:

The project purpose must contain complete information about the project and your reason for wanting to start the project. This information is used in the decision to grant/deny a new project so please be as detailed as possible. This request must be written in English.

Project Public Description:

If a project is targeted to a non-English speaking audience you can provide projects in both English and the language of choice. English needs to be available at all times.

Project Guidelines

Open Source

All projects on Mambo-code.org must be distributed as Open Source. "Open source" in the context of the Mambo code forge means that the source code is viewable. Encrypted or obfuscated code is not permitted.

All open source software distributed though the Mambo code forge has to be developed for running on the Mambo CMS, or have a distinct purpose for extending Mambo powered web sites.

Translations

* Translations of Mambo must be faithful renditions of the English work; they shall neither omit anything from the original text nor add anything to it other than such verbal changes as are necessary in translating English into the alternative language. As translations are derived works they must be released under the GNU/GPL Version 2. * Translations of 3rd party developer extensions should be included with the relevant extension project, if it is hosted on the Mambo forge, or on the 3PD website.

Templates

Template projects must be for collections of free templates licensed under GNU/GPL Version 2. Single template projects or projects containing only commercial templates will not be permitted.

All Projects

Projects of an adult, sexually explicit, racist or otherwise threatening nature are not permitted. Projects must not be promoting or engaging in illegal activities.

Projects may not imply in any way that inclusion in Mambo-code.org constitutes endorsement by Mambo or the Mambo Foundation, Inc.

Projects must be actively maintained and contact details must be kept up-to-date. The email address registered in the Mambo-code.org account will be used for communication. Real names must be used in the account profile.

Should a current project release be found to have security risks for users, the Mambo forge team reserve the right to remove the project from public view or to add a warning to endusers. The team will communicate such actions to the project administrators through the email address that is registered for the project.

The Mambo Foundation reserves the right to mark as "inactive" and archive Mambo-code.org accounts and/or projects that are inactive for extended periods of time.

NOTE: Mambo-code.org is a development forge. It is not an extensions directory or a file hosting repository. Projects that are created with the purpose of just providing links to other sites will be deleted.

Mambo-code.org News Items

Project administrators may create news items, which will show on the frontpage of http://mambo-code.org/. Like project requests, news items are subject to approval.

News items must be in English. If the project focuses on another language, a translation can be provided so that news items are served in two languages.

News items need to be brief and informative.

Terms & Conditions

All communication with members from the Mambo-code.org team must be in English.

These guidelines are subject to change. Any changes to the Project Guidelines of Mambo-code.org will be posted here and notification sent to project administrators through the email address that is registered for the project.
